Car Paint Design Ideas
Write About! Part 1
Normally, taking a Sharpie for a bright, shiny new sports car will lead to a trip to the local asylum and later on, the 5th group of Hell. To get a member of this E46Fanatics forum on the other hand, it was a quest not as a mission. The exquisitely hand-decorated 2001 BMW 330ci shown above is the result of 12 hours of non-stop drawing, literally "until there wasn't any more metal to draw on." What a catastrophe, then, that roughly an hour after the automobile was deemed complete, the car was vandalized at a restaurant parking lot along with a significant section of the art was ruined.
Automobile Wars
A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away... in this version it's not a Galaxie, but a Chevy Cobalt performed just like a rolling tribute to the franchise that launched a million geeks to film fandom. Although stunningly executed and loyal to Lucasarts, er, artwork, this cinematic feeling is your best babe magnet... that unfortunately has been put on "repulse". In the image above you can just make out the window nicely from Mother's basement.
Smart Art
3D graffiti artists Manfred Stader and Edgar Müller painted the Smart Car above... well, in a matter of talking. They paint it -- onto a cobblestone parking lot. Though the wise piece could function as the most famous car-related effort, Müller and Stader have done this kind of thing before.
Write On! Part 2
Many people today want to ride in a Lamborghini, others prefer to compose one. The Sharpie Lamborghini is exactly what happens when you mix Espresso, Sharpies and OCD -- LOTS of every -- and then pour the consequent goop over a Lamborghini Gallardo. Actually the brilliant creation of artist Jona Cerwinske, this one-of-a-kind Lambo has definitely got the write stuff.
Mobile Maker Meets Mobile Machine
It seems only natural that a artist known for creating mobiles would pick the greatest mobile as his moderate. This is the case with Alexander Calder, commissioned by Herve Poulain to give his 1975 BMW 3.0 CSL "Batmobile" a fresh and distinctive appearance. Poulain, an art auctioneer when hen't raced at Le Mans and touring car circuits, took his Bimmer racing. BMW bigwigs were so impressed that the German automaker chose to commission more Art Cars in the Calder mode.
Harlequin Romance
Some people really like the Harlequin paint scheme, so much that they will modify their own rides simply to find that eye catching, schizoid appearance. Harlequin Wannabes are few and far between but if you do find one it tends to stay in your memory -- which is probably what the owners have in mind.
Fender Bender
Someone is driving this rolling announcement of raw energy roughly Berlin, Germany. Mixing trompe l’oeil with a dash of surrealism, this is.
A-Mazda-ing Art Automobiles
Mazda took a page out of BWM with a gnarly series of artwork cars designed to market the 2005 Mazda 5. Teaming up with west coast surfwear & surfware seller Quiksilver, the crazy paint-jobs on the 5's are intended to provoke the lifestyle's free-wheeling aesthetic.
The Kozmic Dream Machine
The Kozmic Fantasy Machine is one of three -- yes, three -- painted art cars conceived and implemented by a young girl who thinks "Creating art fills me with an unsurpassable joy. The psychedelic and surreal qualities of my job encourage the audience to explore other places beyond their creativity." No discussions there, nor with all our contention that when a well-worn Pontiac 6000 could dream, it'd dream kozmic.
